How to decide on your motivation

When seeking motivation, you must first decide on your motivation. What exactly is it you will be motivated about? Do you want to be a better person or quit procrastinating and finish a task that you have long neglected? Perhaps you want to quit smoking or earn more money. Whatever you need motivation for, you must be the one who wants to achieve the task at hand. This is important because the first step is to realize that in order to proceed, you must want to do it. YOU must be the one you are fighting for.

This may sound selfish initially, but you must keep in mind that to do everything  for everyone else is to become a ‘pushover’, as people call it. It’s part of the motivation to realize that you are in control,  and also that you are responsible. When you do motivate yourself for someone else, you might tend to blame them or hold them responsible in a way. It is crucial that you realize your own accountability for your life choices.

Next you must decide on your motivation goals. Once selected, you must continuously focus on your goal with the help of some form of motivational media. Preferably this media choice will be in the form of audio, as it is far more versatile and convenient. Make it a habit to listen to the audio on a day to day basis, and even to fall asleep to it. It’s surprising what we subconsciously retain from hearing things in our sleep.

But remember, first and foremost, that you cannot be motivated until you decide on your motivation. Without that decision, you are traveling the road to self improvement with no map or compass. And remember, YOU are who you are motivated for.
